Let’s kick it off with my entry back into the world of RC drift
we all know how it goes when you fall down a rabbit hole of a hobby!
Been a good 15+ years since my last chassis and things have come a long long way.
the LP-86 sparked my interest #1 being it was a really cheap entry point and I love the challenge of messing around and seeing what can be achieved with simple machines. (And a 1:1 scale AE86 just isn’t in my budget right now haha!)
Chassis: D-Like LP-86
Motor: Tamiya Brushed 23T Sport Tuned
ESC: HobbyWing Quicrun 1060
Servo: Yokomo SP-02D V2
Gyro: Yokomo DP-302 V4
Wheels: ‘Inch-Down’ Speedstars/SSR Mesh 6mm offset
Tyres: Yokomo DRAA at home & DS LF3 at the track

I had fitted a few hop up parts which are pretty common for the LP including rear axle counter weight & mass damper weights on the front end which were a great improvement at home on my concrete garage floor, but later found when testing out at the RC Drift VIC P-Tile circuit would cause it to spin out excessively..
Anyone unfamiliar with the chassis, it’s based on the handling characteristics of an AE86 and works as a weight transfer style with no adjustable suspension, definitely achieves this very well but takes a fair bit of tweaking and track time to get the feel for it, which is what I really dig about it.
Almost completed the body shell..

Plan to keep this thread updated as I go and hopefully be able to keep up with the big dogs soon!
