Help a newbie out

Hey guys, just got my first drift car a little more than a week ago. I’ve only had to opportunity to drive it about 5 times, I have some space in my garage. It’s a box stock Redcat RDS with some of the adjustments made to it that Roadside RC YouTuber recommends on these before ever driving it. I have swapped out the Receiver and Remote so that I can use digital adjustment for gyro gain and that helped immensely.

Other than still being new and getting a feel for it, can y’all tell me why after comparing my video to other people who are good at drifting why mine feels more chaotic and faster? It’s not like the slow methodical drifting I’ve been watching on YouTube and instagram. Is this due to my tires or other setup?

Also any tips on track layout would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Ecaswell32 greetings brother, by the looks just on your video a couple things you could be trying.

Throttle control: looking at you entering and exiting corners it seems like your throttle isn't smooth and you're trying to punch it in or out of a corner. Try holding it smoothly and slowly pulling back to maintain a smooth drift around a longer corner. Try masking some tape on the ground for a nice smooth wide bend and maintaining the same throttle only increasing slightly.
It also looks like it's gripping up a bit on the surface type. You could try looking at getting harder tyres so your rear loses traction easier. After getting some new tires you should then look at adjusting the gyro gain to account for the slipperiness.

Ecaswell32 You can try:

MST CS-R (Gold, Red dot)
HPI MX60
Yokomo DRA (my recommendation)

I think the stock tyres that comes with the red cats are a bit on the grippier side. So it would make sense to be gripping up in drifts if you're slowing down during your slides.
