Hello everyone!
Super excited for the revival of RC Drift Forums!
I've been in the RC hobby since 2003. and RC drifting specifically since 2018. I picked up RC Drifting during my time in Toronto. Used to hit up the local track there, "Strickly Sidewayz". I also spent some time working at a local hobby shop there, "Amazing RC Store". Worked there as the main tech. It was mad fun working on customers cars. Building stuff to their spec.
Post Covid-19 I moved back to Pakistan and brought all my rc stuff with me. I've since been working on creating the RC Drift market here. It started out really slow, and has picked up pace in the past 2 years.
I'm the only one with a dedicated RWD drift track. there's 2 more track currently running in the country. both only have AWD cars/AWD Nitro to electric conversions. It's VERY expensive to import cars. A standard $400 MST RMX ends up costing just over 600$
The country only has 2-3 hobby shops. 80% of their inventory is usually airplanes. Only recently have people started getting into surface rc properly.
As for tracks, many have come and gone. They never last since the owners are all 'business' only oriented. none of them have been actual hobbyists. and if they were, the local community didn't support them enough to be able to sustain themselves in this harsh economy.
I took the initiative of purchasing a bunch of MST RMX's and having them available as rental cars. As it stands, RC Drift Pakistan is the only dedicated RC Drift Track and Hobby Shop.
I'm not too sure how I'd rate myself in terms of experience levelโฆ I enjoy sliding as much as the next guy. However my true passion lies within Custom Bodyshell building/Airbrushing.
I've been fortunate enough to visit Japan in 2023. I took my MST RMX KMW with me. Frequented the Super Rajikon in Osaka. Got to meet the owner of Addiction RC. Which was the highlight of my visit for sure ๐
I've been a fan of rc drifting for many many years. BAck in the day(07?) I had a Tamiya TT-01 which had a bunch of hop-ups. But I don't know if it can be classified as a proper drift chassis, at least in AWD form.
Having forums back is exactly was needed. No more scouring the ends of the internet to find simple, basic information about aftermarket parts/tuning and even just rc drift cars in general.
Looking forward to sharing the journey of RC Drifting in Pakistan with you all ๐
Later, T.I.M
